Bio

I was born1972 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1979, we moved to Waterville, OH (near Toledo). Before Christmas one year I was looking through a Sears catalog trying to figure out what to ask for, and I landed on the page with the cheapo guitars. Ignoring my past history of quitting things (bowling, piano, trumpet....) my parents went ahead and got me a guitar and amp combo from the local music shop. They also started me w/ lessons at Valley Music in Maumee. My teacher, Mary, spent the following weeks unsuccessfully trying to teach me how to read music. Sensing that I wasn't getting it and I was probably going to quit soon, she said, "OK, what do you want to learn?" My answer: "Huey Lewis". My unconventional music lessons were the only thing that kept me from quitting (believe me, this was a breakthrough).

I really took off and continued lessons the rest of the way through high school. My senior year, I hooked up with a fellow guitarist, Greg Hall, and we did a guitar "duet" for the school talent show.  We did two shows that day and the school kids loved it. Greg and I have been playing together since. After our college band broke up, Greg and I decided to start a band with our friends (all non-musicians). People came and went, but the core of the group was Greg, me, and our pal, Shane. We called ourselves "Pee". None of us had sung before so we all took turns warbling silly songs about cheese, cats, male strippers, and other inside jokes. As time went by, the songs got better and better, along with my singing, and we began to record more serious material (to the disappointment of fans of songs like "Secret Naked Life" and "Robe Girl").

After college, my lady and I moved down to Dayton. I purchased some recording equipment with some of our wedding money and began to write more frequently. Six years later I put together my first CD under my Fly Monkey Fly label titled, "Here Come the Lips". I got a great response form the limited copies I made and it inspired me to continue to record. In 2002, on my 30th birthday, I held an album release party for my second CD, "Posthumous Release". The CD was highly reviewed by the Toledo City Paper (click here) and I began promoting it on a regular basis. "Posthumous Release" is available at all Borders Books and Music in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas (and some Cleveland and Columbus stores). I keep a busy performance schedule and am currently working on my next CD, "Balladeer", which should arrive sometime in the spring of 2005.
