Soft Heart - Keith May 2003

What do they know

What happens inside our happy home

Is there a medicine made

to bring our love back from this grave?

You attack and I try to defend

was supposed to marry my best friend (why)

Maybe if you had more sleep

you'd remember to love me right.

How long have I been alone?

From a lover to a servant,

I should have known

Your eyes see right past

me to the door and I wonder how long this can last

Never seen a relationship this way

you talk-I do just what you say (why)

I find your teeth so sharp and hard

they sink right into my heart (why)

And I know there are ways I'd like things to be

but you insist on making me cry

And my hand is reached out in my defense

to reel you right on in my life

Won't you come back?

This song is about unstable people who lack the communication skills to pull each other up from the ground when adulthood calls for it. It is about the animal behavior that we are all capable of. Most of all, it is about being lonely and wanting your companion to know.

Recorded and mixed quickly, this song has remained untouched since it was initially recorded.  This song marks my first attempt to mic my guitar amp.  I was extremely delighted by the country/rock tone I got.  Overall, it is a driving song w/o lots of frills that sounds twice as nice turned up twice as loud.
