Hypnotize - Keith May 2003

Oh lord what a difference a day makes

Just trying to keep my laughing contained.

You must, you must feel the same way

Now tell me you do. Tell me, tell me

First you trip, then you want to stay.

It was great, but now its just OK.

Pull back your hair and darken those eyes

I'm in the mirror hypnotized by you, by you still.

I'm looking out for a good time

and if you're willing it won't be hard to find

Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me do you feel the same way

Tell me you do. Tell me, tell me

I'll make you feel guilty 'cause you didn't show

I think we should move towards the door

We both want something more, but you don't know how to feel anymore

Give it a shot make this a better day

We got nothing to lose, but that frown OK?

Pull back your hair and darken those eyes

I'm in the mirror hypnotized by you, by you still.

"Hypnotize" is a love song sure, but its also about wanting to go out for the night and trying to convince your loved one to get ready and come along.  Nothing too deep, but it is a great balance to some of the darker material on the disk. The first line, "Oh Lord, what a difference a day makes", is my wink at jazz vocalist Dinah Washington, who had a hit with "What a Difference a Day Makes" back in 1959.

The instruments were recorded at Action City Records and the owner had many expensive guitars at our disposal.  For the guitar nerds:  the acoustic in the recording is a Koa Taylor.
