Greek
- Keith May 2004
As
far back as I can remember, they've always washed up here
with
their golden spears and their silver tongues.
Countless
hours of rest interrupted by their chants and yells
Oh
the things they said, never bode them well
But
it's been so long…
Since
I felt the need to be brave and strong
And
I watch for them to draw near
But
I've never seen a happy face, only those filled with fear
(I
know fear)
I'm
sure the books are told with epic battles, filled with scarlet
Glorifying
those whose deaths were valiant
But
no matter if they were a Titan or a chosen son,
The
end was quick and quiet, recorded by no one.
By
the fire here all alone
No
sound of sails or the slipping of the stones
Under
their feet as they try
To
stay brave but, I've seen those eyes
(One
thousand times)
